Wall Street, September 1920. Statue of George Washington, marking the spot of his first inauguration, stands largely unmarked. The bombing, which killed 38 people, was never solved, but suspicion rested on Italian anarchists. Less than 100 years ago, Italian anarchists were allegedly bombing a lot of public buildings and attempting to use bombs to kill cabinet members and ambassadors. They were in jail at the time, but this bombing was assumed to have been carried out by friends of Sacco and Vanzetti.
