Richard O’Dwyer is a citizen of England, and was living in England when British police and US agents arrested him for violating copyright laws. The British charges were dropped, and his own country offered to extradite him to the US, for hosting a website that offered search services for finding videos of movies and tv shows (although his site didn’t offer any video itself, just search results). The MPAA is the shitstain behind this, which is not shocking. But I guess what is shocking is that the British government — even a government run by a lame brain like David Cameron — is offering to send one of its own citizens to the US when O’Dwyer never broke any laws in the US. He simply ran a website that could be accessed in the US. It’s funny how Tea Party people are afraid of a one-world government, but no one seems to mind one government forcing the arrests of citizens of other countries around the world.
Note: The MPAA is trying very hard to solicit Hollywood celebrities to speak out against O’Dwyer. So far, virtually no one has done that, because it’s obvious that what the MPAA is doing is immoral and despicable.
There is a petition to try and prevent O’Dwyer’s extradition to the US, started by Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia. Consider signing if you agree extradition would be wrong.
